On a Friday like this, several years ago… #2
If you know me well, you’ll probably also know how much a fan I am of Oasis. Growing up, there were some silly people that thought I changed my name to Liam or used it as a moniker just because of my obsession with them. No, we’re not going to cover Wonderwall this week.
Yes we know Oasis was notorious and got on a lot of people’s nerves. But alas, On August 28th, 2009 Noel announced his departure from the legendary band that was “Familiar to Millions“. It’s surprising how despite all the hype about this news, many still don’t know. They’re just another band right?
This Friday as many of you in and around Toronto that are snowed in or afraid to venture out (and the rest of you around the world as well lucky not to be snowed in), lets take a look back at some of my top favourites of Oasis over the years.
RIP 1991-2009

As of today, I will start giving you, my readers, an insight into some of the tracks that I cherished growing up and hopefully introduce you to something new or bring back a fond memory from a time way back when that will put a smile on your face.
This friday I’m going to go back to 1998. Not such a distant past but one I remember well for tracks such as Lovestation – Teardrops. I don’t know how many of you actually heard it but it seems that despite there being a video and it selling so well, I still get a weird look when I mention it. Sorta “umm…LOVEstation? TEARDROPS?…what is this? cheesy pop music?”. No it isn’t (or rather wasn’t) pop music, in the traditional sense, despite there being a video and being aired on TV a lot.
You may or may not have heard of Womack & Womack (Cecil & Linda Womack that is) who released a song by the same name in 1988 that was bigger than ever. Yes, it’s the original. You may have also recently heard the Sugababes cover from 2009…..seems this track has a way of coming back every 10 years.
You’re probably tired of reading so lets cut to the vids courtesy of youtube:

and for the sake of comparison,
Sugababes – Teardrops (2009)
